Anyone who’s been blogging a long time knows that having a good workflow strategy for your content is important. Trello is a free program that allows you to set up your blog content workflow, add team members to keep them in the loop and much more. While there are paid Trello options, the free basic plan usually works well for most bloggers. Today I’m going to share a few tips on how to organize your blog with Trello.
Create a Blog Board: The starting point of organizing your blog using Trello is to set up a board for your main areas or organization. For example, you may have a board titled “blog”, another titled “newsletter” and a third board for “articles”. Think about how you normally do your workflow from brainstorming to planning and developing title ideas for blog posts. The Trello boards you created will help this process be more organized when you create a board for each major step.

Create a List: Once you’ve established your Trello blog boards, it’s time to create a list under each category. The lists will be different for each board. Think of the lists underneath a blog board in Trello as your step by step process. You may also use lists to organize your content creation ideas or plans for content on the blog. You can have new lists for each step of the process so that you can be aware of blog posts that need to be written, blog posts that need to be reviewed and blog posts that still need SEO and images added.
Need email marketing help? Trello is a good start to help you get organized with daily blog tasks, but don’t neglect your email! Stay on top of it so you don’t miss any urgent pitches.
Add Cards: Now that you have the lists that showcase your workflow for each Trello blog board, you can add cards underneath the lists. This is where you can assign team members if you have a virtual assistant working for you to develop content and where you can have blog titles listed out one by one on each card. The really awesome thing about cards is that you can also opt to add notes on each individual card, making this an easy one-stop place to plan your blog content.
Be Interactive: Organizing your blog with Trello doesn’t have to be used for bloggers who have team members. This is the perfect organizational tool for bloggers who run everything on their own. Within the cards, you can have labels, color coding, and areas to place notes. Trello makes it really easy for the creative mind to flow and plan the process of developing blog content and keeping your blog marketing strategy organized.
This is a free program and it’s really wonderful for those who like to brainstorm blog content ideas and keep things organized. Trello can be used to ensure you follow the same workflow for every blog post that goes live on your site.
